For our third edition of Five ‘Cue Friday, we’re spotlighting Jamie Lin Wilson, the folk-inspired singer-songwriter with a poetic point of view hailing from Texas.
After gracing the stage alongside big-name acts including John Ross Silva, Scott Davis, Cody Foote and Wade Bowen, Jamie has made a mark on the folk-Americana-independent country music scene.
As we gear up for Jamie to take the Smokeout stage on Sunday, July 15, we take an inside look on what makes her tick – from her favorite ‘cue and what goes into a great party to the talent she’s most excited to see at this year’s festival.
1. Favorite BBQ
Being from Texas, brisket will always be my first love, but I am partial to anything pork-related these days.
2. Beverage of choice
I tour full-time and have three kids – so, anything with caffeine.
3. What artist(s) are you most excited to see at the Smokeout?
Well, I’m very close with the Turnpike boys, and I don’t get to see them live very often. I believe they’re the best and tightest band out there right now, so I’m most excited so see them!
4. First country music concert
My dad was on the fair board of the small county where I grew up and they had lots of great music come through. So, by the time I was 10 or 12, I had already seen Mark Chestnutt, Garth Brooks, Clint Black, John Michael Montgomery, Joe Diffie – all of your early ’90s heartthrobs. 🙂
5. Top tip to hosting a great summer party?
Water games and tequila.
